Research and Advanced Education
Advanced Training in Neurosciences – Personal Experience

There are many motivations that might lead a student to choose the area of neurosciences. This motivational variability is only possible due to the multidisciplinary nature of the course, thus bringing together students with different backgrounds and academic interests. These conditions place us, as students, in a privileged position in order to study the nervous system, both in normal conditions and in those of illness. One of the most captivating aspects of neurosciences is its increasing social importance, as although it is not a fundamental area of science it has deep practical application. When I chose this course I wanted […]

I’m Death.” A shape he knew well went through his mind: A skeleton with a scythe that his mother had once shown him. He didn’t open the door, but went back to bed, And he covered up his shivering, shaking limbs in it. But the door was […]

It is worth recalling that tragic history, briefly, and relying […]

The University of Madeira. The effects of the recent tragic events on the students’ lives

News@fmul had the kindness to invite me to write an article about the effects of the tragedy that took place in Madeira and its reflections on academic life. I am grateful for the invitation, and although it is not easy given the nature of the subject, I am going to try to briefly describe the effects of the tragedy on the lives of the people of Madeira and in particular on that of the students at the University of Madeira (UMa). Tragedy befell Madeira, and independently of the human errors nature was implacable and unpredictable! Madeira Island, the synonym of […]

The Internet has definitively set itself up in our lives, and search engines now play the role previously played by phone books and dictionaries. In each issue we will divulge some pages from the Internet or blogs that seem to be worthy of note from the academic or scientific point of view so that they can be added to each person’s list of favourites.
