Composed of 15 members, the school board meets occasionally to discuss some matters important in the Faculty’s agenda. Professor Fausto J. A Casa do Pessoal da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa (CPFMUL) realizou, a 14 de dezembro, o tradicional almoço de Natal, que contou com a presença de uma centena de associados. Cases of advanced stage heart failure now have a special unit in the Hospital Pulido Valente

This month, the Pulido Valente Hospital opened the first unit in the country dedicated to heart failure in the palliative care area. With the High Sponsorship of the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic, the Unit “Mais Sentido” will take care of heart failure at advanced stages, thus following and monitoring patients at home, covering a significant number of patients and also supporting their families. We enter the teachers’ room when the animation teams are gathering to bring a little bit of colour to the corridors of the Paediatric Department of the Santa Maria Hospital. We are there because we want to take part in one of the many playful initiatives organised by the Santa Maria Hospital to entertain hospitalised children. No âmbito do 1º Encontro A Universidade de Lisboa e o Património, realizou-se, no passado dia 15 de dezembro, sábado, entre as 10:00 e as 13:00, uma visita guiada ao património da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa. Um grupo de cerca de vinte pessoas integrou uma visita ao património da FMUL, com destaque para alguns dos seus ex-libris, nomeadamente, entre outros, os quadros de Columbano Bordalo Pinheiro, o desenho da Lição de Anatomia de Américo Marinho, as instalações renovadas da Biblioteca-CDI e uma selecção de obras do seu acervo de livro antigo. 2019 Meeting of the Portuguese Society of Gastroenterology

The 2019 Monothematic Meeting of the Portuguese Society of Gastroenterology will be held on January 26 at Centro Cultural de Belém, with the participation of several specialists, namely gastroenterologists, surgeons, and oncologists, among others. This event will focus on digestive cancer. “A third of all cancers is related to the digestive tract,” says Professor Rui Tato Marinho, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, who will preside over the event.
