It is the month we receive the students, the newcomers and those who return to their academic path. It is as if we are entering a new year, with new projects and wishes wrapped in promises. September is Faculty Day , but it was the day of so many more events.
The day when Professor Egas Moniz was honoured for the 70th anniversary of his Nobel Prize in Medicine and Physiology, the only one to date in Portugal.
It was also the day of the change of its own image, starting with a new, modern and more intuitive look, through a new website and a video that will be the Faculty’s new business card for itself and for the world.
This explains why this month we have given special prominence to two of the actors in the same video. Can anyone be perfect in many things at once? Or is anyone close to attaining it? That’s what made us meet Estela Flambó and Mickael Bastikian.
And because we are a Faculty that is increasingly positioned to be in the world, we wanted to focus this month on newcomers, from everywhere, the newly arrived Erasmus students.
The world keeps spinning without even talking about the academic year.
September was also the birth month of the Evidence Based Health Institute.

We have just told you about Prizes that make the institution very proud and has the bests teachers. And no, we are not exaggerating.
An outstanding top reviewer, Professor Mamede de Carvalho has been granted two awards for his exceptional work reviewing scientific articles by the Publons Peer Review Awards 2019.
Professor Bruno Silva-Santos is back in the news, but this time he is not alone. Professors Marc Veldhoen and Leonor Saúde are also on the list of the award winners, La Caixa bank and FCT so they can continue their research work.
Could we have had a richer month?
Probably not.
It’s good to be back in the place that makes us proud, and that’s why we all give small portions of our contribution every day.
Let this year begin, full of change, because it is what makes us advance in the world.
